In south india upma is a famous break fast item. Preparation time also less, it takes only few minutes . It is one of the best simple dish.
Ingredients:
1cup Wheat Rava
2 1/2 cup water
1 Medium size onion sliced
1 tomato medium size
2 Green chillies
2 tbsp Green peas
1 tsp Urad dal (minapa pappu)
1 tsp Channa dal
1 tsp Mustard seeds
10-15 Curry leaves
Small peice ginger
4 tsp oil
Salt to taste
Method:
Heat 1tsp oil in pan after oil heated then pour rava and fry for couple of minutes and take it out from the pan.
Heat oil in a pan add mustard, urad dal, channa dal after the mustard seeds pops add ginger and green chillis. Stay for few seconds then add onion and curry leaves and fry till translucent, add tomato and fry well.
Now add green peas and fry.
Then pour water in the pan add salt to taste and allow it to boil, it will take few minutes to boil,
then add rava and stir carefully without lumps.
Reduce the heat to low-medium cover the pan with lid and cook it for 6-7 minutes or until rava is cooked. In case rava is not cooked properly with that water then sprinkle little bit water and cover with lid and keep on low heat for 2minutes.
Serve hot wheat rava upma with any pickle, sugar or any chutney power
